i feel safe when i'm out of place

This is in the courtyard of a big militia (police) post - just coincidentally, of course...

so the honest truth is that as usual i carried my camera around every day for months and hardly took a picture. and when i did, nothing seemed to look right - like someone had switched my glasses one night while i slept.
still can't say that i feel ike i've got the magic back, but summer's here and i felt like i should poke my head in and say 'hi.' glad to see some of you are still here (and a few people are back) - i may post a few more things, but i haven't decided whether to try to come back full time or not. i miss the old buzznet crowd, though...

Forgotten the proper titles for these shots, another one of my walks through the past...
They've kept the name for the metro stop, but otherwise "VDNKh" (ve-de-en-ha) is a name from history. Still I prefer "Exhibition of the Achievements of the National Economy" to "All-Russian Exhibition Center." Once there were pavilions celebrating on one hand the various republics/cultures of the Soviet Union (a socialist Epcot Center!), and on the other the various branches of the economy.
Now... well, now some of the later shots in the series will give you an idea.
